Skateboarding in Afghanistan

This is an amazing story out of Afghanistan that really brought me to tears. Amidst all the negative things that are going on there these days some children still have a way to enjoy themselves in a safe, positive environment. Afghanistan is a country where public displays of emotion is almost never seen and essentially unheard of and unacceptable. Laughter, Dancing, Happiness is virtually banned in the public especially for women. It's very rare and socially unacceptable for a young girl to play a sport or simply play and talk among friends, especially young boys in public.

Which is why this story is so special.

"Skateistan" is a co-educational skateboarding school in Afghanistan, bringing people together to learn how to skate. (Lower the music), Watch, Enjoy, Discuss. ~Mika
