This weekend is the 4 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It seems like yesterday that it happened and everything is still fresh in my mind. Images in the media of infants without milk and diapers; the sadness in their parents eyes. It was mostly my people...those that shared my skin tone who were helpless and desperate.
Best wishes for the rehabilitation of New Orleans; special acknowledgment to those people who are still there volunteering and rebuilding. I hope that one day all of the natives will be able to return home to the vibrant, exciting New Orleans that we all remember.
My deepest sympathy to all the lives that were lost...I will never forget.~Mika
